Well, in the case of a robot, the influence of outside behavior only extends as far as its programming or heuristics allow. In the case of a conscious being, such as ourselves, we can reevaluate our own thoughts and mental state based on any new information we receive. Not only follow different logic branches, whether determined or random, but evaluate the branches themselves or even higher levels of introspection.

It raises several interesting question, and I'm stuck on: What is the contribution of outside influences on behavior? Cause then I think, how do we get to our new influences/behaviors, such as joining a particular religion or watching a new tv show that influences our thinking? That makes me think: maybe it's all one big random walk.

Yes, I really just wanted to say "random walk". I'm sorry.
