RE the double standard comment: The research on children who have been sexually abused suggests that males abused by females (and all those high school / junior high + teacher relationships come under that category) do sustain some damage. I can't remember now whether it's equivalent to the amount of damage (and how does one measure that anyway?) sustained by females of similar age in similar relationships.

PC-ness aside, an adult having a sexual relationship with a child or adolescent is that adult fulfilling his/her own needs at the expense of the child, or at the very least without considering what's best for that child. It ain't good for boys or girls, regardless of the gender of the adult. You can talk about the mechanics of sex all you want, but what it boils down to is an adult who says "what I need is more important than what you need, kiddo," then meets his/her needs with coercion or manipulation or violence... and that's not right or healthy for the kid, regardless of how the act is accomplished or the gender of the participants.
